The Rising Tide Conference is an annual gathering for everyone who loves New Orleans and is working to bring a better future to all its residents.
Leveraging the power of bloggers and new media, the conference is a launch pad for organization and action. Our day-long program of speakers and presentations is tailored to inform, entertain, enrage and inspire.
Past featured speakers included Harry Shearer (writer, actor, host of the weekly radio show Le Show), John Barry (author of Rising Tide), and Dave Zirin (author of Welcome to the Terrordome).
Participants are encouraged to Blog, Twitter, Facebook and otherwise connect and share with others in attendance and around the world. The goals of Rising Tide are numerous, but are briefly:
- We seek to protect and preserve the cultural qualities of New Orleans that make our city so unique.
- We resolve to root out and expose the corruption and incompetence that harms us all.
- We work to enact a vision of restored and resilient community that respects traditions and reaches for a sustainable future for all citizens.

Join us for this year's Rising Tide public service opportunity. We'll be packing food boxes for local distribution for Second Harvest Food Bank Friday morning, August 27. Please email service@risingtidenola.com and check "yes" when you register. We'll see you there.
There is a Rising Tide 5 group rate at the Marriott Springhill Suites Hotel across the street from our conference venue, The Howlin' Wolf (map).
- Thursday night, 8/26 - Sunday night, 8/29 the Rising Tide rate is $79.00 per night.
- This offer is valid until August 9 and subject to availability.
- The Rate applies to rooms with 1 king bed or 2 double beds, both with sleeper sofas.
- Double rooms sleep 6 and King rooms sleep 4.

lead the fight against hunger in south Louisiana. Our conference this
year will include a food drive. Please bring at least one, but

to Rising Tide this year, to support Second Harvest Food Bank's
response to the increasing need for emergency food assistance in
